Well that's gone and done it!

Well I've had an exciting couple of weeks, in fact I'd say that May is the Month of Change.

As already mentioned I start a new job tomorrow. I've just got back from a two week jolly to Cancun, where I finished my PADI so I can now go scuba diving. Whilst I was out there I saw sharks, turtles, rays, eels, octopus, cuttlefish, lobster, giant barracuda and lots of fishes. The OH also proposed; so now he really is the OH and as my mum put it; "The boys will be legit!". I'd just like to point out at this point that "the boys" are our two pet rats, Dexter and McNulty....bless her.

So the OH is now stuck with me (and the slightly crazy mother-in-law) and I'll be taking his surname.

Now as some of you already know I've already started looking into his dim and distant past and traced them back to Hull, where apparently they appeared from thin air. So to get around this I started to collect information about any and all STEERS in the hopes that I'd come across them. I'm still hoping on that front but it did lead me to consider undertaking a One Name Study (ONS) of the STEERS name; I'm doing the work, it might as well go to a good use.

So I've gone and done it. I've registered the name and created the profile page and started to put together a to-do list. This is going to lead to some changes in this blog and a separate blog being set up for the ONS. I know it's going to be a lot of work, it's a huge project but I'm excited about it.

I don't think the OH knows what he has let himself in for.

  2. Well done on the proposal and also the ONS. I started one last October for my wife's name - Espley. Slow progress and am still gathering census information. Good luck!
